Who is this guy? Jose is the Oakland Athletics #1 prospect. He is a natural shortstop, but has been moved to 2nd base, as he will not be moving Miguel Tejada anytime soon. Ortiz ended 2000 the way most players would like...batting .351, with 24 HR's, 108 RBI's, and 22 SB's for Triple-A Sacramento...and running away with the Pacific Coast League MVP. Although Frank Menechino won out the job in 2001, sending Ortiz back to Triple-A, Ortiz should be the man for the job in 2002. Until then, maybe he can only get better...and maybe pack in another PCL MVP for good measure.
