--1999 saw the release of Just the Start '99, and formally announced the arrival of Just Minors into the minor league trading card market. The intent of Just Minors was to bring a quality card to market, that serves the interests of both the collector and the investor. A favorable player base and strong fan support led to a successful showing for our initial trading card product.

The Just the Start '99 base set was originally headlined by the likes of Rick Ankiel, Gabe Kapler, Nick Johnson and Randy Wolf. However, since that time, a couple other players have surfaced towards the top of the collectable list, including Ryan Anderson, Alex Escobar, Adam Kennedy, Pablo Ozuna, and Vernon Wells....not to mention the first card produced of a speedy, little shortstop in Atlanta, (2000 Rookie of the Year winner) Rafael Furcal. The case that this base set has only 50 cards in it makes it easy to complete one, and generally closer to two complete sets out of Just one box!

Just the Start '99 not only contains the first autograph cards put out on the market of Rafael Furcal, it also includes autos of Kapler, Kennedy, and two different autograph cards of 1998 Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams! In fact, our Ricky Williams die-cut autograph card won Beckett's 1999 Minor League Card of the Year Award! You can see the article in the August, '99 issue of Beckett Sports Collectibles (pg. 120).
